Tragedy? I think not.

I ate lunch with some guys from my church yesterday and they were complaining about how the Chiefs could have won the Wild Card game with the Colts this season and how much of a bummer that game was. I didn't tell them I was a Saints fan, but I wanted to direct them to this. Seriously. A guy dies during knee surgery two years after another guy dies from a neck injury sustained during a game? I'll take 100 NFC Championship losses before a blow like either of those...

What a year (so far)!

Holy crap, I can't believe how fortunate I've been this 2006-2007 season in terms of watching my favorite sports teams. First, the Tigers win the American League Championship. Next, the Saints earn a trip to Chicago to play for the NFC Championship (this weekend). Then the Suns rattle off 26 of 28 victories after starting 3-6 and are apparently on the brink of NBA greatness. Did I mention that the Devils are second in the NHL's Eastern Conference and 10 games ahead of the rest of their division?

Anyway, whatever happens to the Saints this weekend, it was a great year for them after going 3-13 last season. The most exciting thing for me right now is probably the future of this once-in-my-lifetime sports season, for aside from New Orleans being two wins away from a Super Bowl Championship, I have much to look forward from New Jersey, and to an even greater extent, the Phoenix Suns. I could never put that fact as well as Bill Simmons does here. Read the article and become a Suns fan before you have to jump on the bandwagon.
