Voting is fun!

About six years ago I discovered a little activity that made Tuesday night TV more fun during the first week in November -- I voted! And then I followed suit every other year, culminating in last night's vote-fest, in which I wrote in and voted for my favorite sports players in every race (two years ago it was my favorite actors/actresses).

It really does help out with the evening TV watching, though. At least this way you can sit and watch the returns like it's a sporting event or something, instead of complaining about the return coverage hogging all the major networks (and having to ultimately subject yourself to something on the new CW). It's not like my vote has ever mattered (that's right -- it hasn't, unless you can point to one race in the last six years that was separated by one vote), but at least when I vote I feel "plugged in," and that "my voice is being heard" in a country that's so split down the middle on pretty much everything that it's ridiculous.

But as you know, Chet Culver will be the next governor of Iowa. Charles Barkley didn't even bring in 1% of the vote, so no one else must have voted for him (oh well, there's always 2008 -- Edward Norton for president). My favorite thing about Culver is his strong belief in renewable fuels; I think this state needs something for which our farmers can work, since United States farmers are not only underappreciated, but getting their butts kicked by other countries (namely Brazil) because of urban expansion and the decrease in young farmers. And if I were an advisor to Mr. Culver, I would say, "Governor-elect Culver, I believe in renewable fuels like you believe in renewable fuels. So now that you're governor, we need to put our state funding into science -- the science that will figure out how to change human perspiration into fuel...because YOU ARE THE SWEATIEST HUMAN BEING ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET."

Chet Culver. His sweat is good for Iowa.
